What a Summer! A Look Back at Bowreed's Biggest Season Yet
October 9, 2026

Well, that’s another summer done and dusted, and what a summer it’s been!
We’ve travelled thousands of miles, danced with thousands of guests, and been lucky enough to share in some genuinely wonderful celebrations. It’s been one of our busiest summers yet, and looking back at everything we’ve managed to squeeze into a few short months, it’s hard to know where to start.
From Bristol to the Rest of Europe
We’ve been pretty much everywhere this summer. From weddings and parties all over the UK to countless celebrations in Bristol and the South West, we’ve barely left a stone unturned in our usual stomping ground.
We’ve also been incredibly lucky to take the dancing a little further afield, with weddings across France, Italy and Spain. There’s something quite special about bringing a ceilidh to a completely new setting, particularly when half the guests have never experienced one before.
Wherever we’ve been, the enthusiasm has been just the same. It turns out that getting a room full of people dancing together is a pretty universal recipe for a good time!
A Little Heat Never Hurt Anyone!
There’s no getting around it, it’s been a hot one. We’ve played in some pretty sweltering conditions this summer, and you might reasonably wonder whether a room full of people would really fancy throwing themselves into a ceilidh when it’s already 30 degrees outside.
Well, we’re delighted to report that not once did the heat get the better of the dancing!
Everywhere we’ve been, people have thrown themselves into it with the same enthusiasm, whatever the weather. There have been plenty of rosy cheeks, open windows and trips to the bar for water, but the dancing has always come first.
The People Make It
More than anything, it’s the people we’ve met who’ve made this summer so memorable. We’ve witnessed some incredible moments of love, kindness and generosity, from the couples who’ve invited us to share their wedding days to the families and friends who’ve welcomed us into their celebrations, and I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of people to do it all with. Our musicians and callers are all great mates, which is probably just as well given how much time we’ve spent travelling around together this year!
It’s a real privilege to work with such a lovely team, and I can’t wait to do it all again next summer - although we’ve got Burns Night season to get through first!
Come and Dance With Us!
If you’ve been wondering what all the fuss is about, or just fancy a good old fashioned dance, you can catch us at Bristol Folk House on Friday 15th January 2027.
We’ll be playing a public ceilidh, and everyone’s welcome, whether you’ve been dancing for years or haven’t the faintest idea what a ceilidh involves.
Tickets will be available soon through Bristol Ceilidhs.
We’d love to see you there!
