Burns Night Ceilidhs

History of Burns Night

Burns Night, 25th January, celebrates Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns—famous for Auld Lang Syne and Address to a Haggis.

It all started in 1801 when his pals marked his passing with an evening of poetry, haggis, whisky, and, of course, music and dancing.

Not much has changed since. Poetry? Check. Haggis? Obviously. Dancing? A must.

Want the full history lesson? Head to the Robert Burns World Federation. For everything else, just enjoy the night like a true Scot- plenty of cheer and, of course, a ceilidh with Bowreed!

A Burns Night supper isn’t complete without the ceremonial “Piping of the Haggis.” Bowreed has been part of these celebrations for years, bringing ceilidh magic with live music and expert callers.

Ceilidhs are at the heart of Scottish culture- think Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant, and plenty of laughter along the way.

Hosting a formal dinner? Keeping it casual? Either way, a ceilidh gets everyone together in the best way.
