On the Night

Bowreed arrives with high-quality PA and lighting to create a fantastic experience. We typically perform 1.5 hours of live music, split into 2 x 45-minute sets with a break in between. We take care of your entertainment needs, ensuring a seamless evening for you and your guests.

For events with meals or speeches, we recommend allowing 60 minutes for setup. A typical evening might look like this:

  • 18:30    Bowreed arrives
  • 19:30    First dance/first set
  • 20:15    Break (perfect for evening food)
  • 20:45    Second set
  • 21:30    Disco/DJ service until venue close*

We’re flexible with timings to fit your schedule, and early arrival is available for a small extra fee to ensure a smooth setup.

Bowreed can also perform as an acoustic duo, perfect for drinks receptions or weddings, creating a lovely atmosphere as guests arrive.

What's a Ceilidh?

Ceilidh dancing is a cherished Scottish tradition synonymous with celebration and community spirit. At its core, a ceilidh band provides the music for these gatherings, welcoming participation. Originally intimate family events, ceilidhs have transformed into popular festivities at weddings, parties, and public celebrations. The essence of a ceilidh lies in bringing people together through dance and rhythm.

Ceilidh bands play a vital role in Scottish and Irish culture, celebrating milestones and creating lasting memories. These bands typically feature traditional instruments like fiddles, accordions, and flutes, producing a sound that encourages guests of all ages to join in.

Today, ceilidh bands are enjoyed worldwide, allowing more people to discover the joy of this inclusive dance form. For those interested, a deeper dive into the history of ceilidh dancing and ceilidh bands can be found by visiting Scottish Banner or checking out the Wikipedia page on ceilidh.
